Since the Odenville Christmas Parade was cancelled last Saturday due to rain, it has been rescheduled for December 17th. As of right now, it looks like the weather will be clear, but chilly. Wear your uniform but dress warm!

Camping 10/23 - 10/24

Camping and Rain Gutter Regatta at Camp Rushton / Camp Winnataska is still tentatively planned for this weekend. We'll be paying close attention to the weather for Friday night and Saturday. If we do get rained out, we may still hold the Regatta some time on Saturday. I'll try and keep the blog updated in the event that that is the case.

Directions:
If you are coming from Birmingham -
Take I-20 E (towards Atlanta) to the Brompton exit (#147)
TURN RIGHT onto Kelly Creek Rd.
TURN LEFT at AL-4 E/US-78 E and go up the mountain
TAKE THE FIRST RIGHT and continue on that road until you see the Camp Winnataska sign
CAMP RUSHTON will be the next dirt drive.

Webelo's Progress

Webelo's Parents - Please complete and return the Webelo's progress sheets that were distributed a couple of weeks ago. Indicating activities that have been completed at home or summer camp allows us to have accurate records. These activities / badges count towards additional awards or progress. Thank you.

Adult Clean-Up Day on the 17th has been cancelled.

The calendar has been updated to reflect the correct camping spot for the 23rd and 24th; Camp Winnataska in Pell City.

Fall Scout Day at the Space & Rocket Center

This Saturday, October 10th is Fall Scout Day at the Huntsville U.S. Space & Rocket Center. The museum hours are from 9am - 5pm but we are tentatively meeting at 10am at the museum to try and go as a group. The cost is $18 per person and that includes:

Admission to the museum
One IMAX movie at the Spacedome Theater
Hamburger box lunch
A Scout Day patch
A Scout Day certificate

Some of us are also planning to camp out Friday night at Monte Sano State Park. Monte Sano offers a primitive campground with rates at $1.00 per person per night.

Per their website, Google Maps nor Mapquest offer adequate directions. These are the directions provided by Monte Sano:

Take I-65 North to I-565
From I-565 take exit 17b Govenors Dr.
Follow to top of mountain and turn left on Monte Sano Blvd.
Go 2.5 miles and turn right on Nolen Ave.
Follow it 1 mile until you arrive at the park.
